I Hate my Job!

I overslept today. I NEVER OVERSLEEP! I may push the snooze button 10 times and then run around like a crazy woman for 40 minutes, but I never oversleep and I am NEVER late for work!

Well. I pushed the button several times and then my son’s cat snuggled up to me and then I woke up and it was 8:10 and I’m supposed to be at work at 8:30 and god dammit, I was late for work!!!

I also think I have a touch of the stomache virus that is making it’s way around PA….yucch.

So, when I finally got to work, I spent half the day in the bathroom and the other half sitting at my desk while wrapped in a blanket that is not quite long enough to cover my feet and my chin at the same time. I think I’m going to find my Snuggie that my mom bought me for Christmas last year and bring it into work to keep me cozy when I’m freezing my ass off from that god dam, unrelentelss, air conditioner.

As I walked out of the building into the hot parking lot, I thought to myself for the 1000th time, “Dear God, I hate my job so much.” Hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it, hate it.”

Please don’t say I should be grateful that I have a job.

I hate it, hate it, hate it, but I can’t even consider leaving until after my daughter’s wedding in December. “Til then, I hate it, hate it, hate it. How the hell did I end up working for a mind numbing, fookin’ insurance company????

Hate it.

Working at a job you hate is like pounding your skull againsst a concrete wall until it’s time to retire and then the bliss of no more pain when you retire is so exhiliarating – I hope you can hold out til after the wedding – will you retire then? From a recent retiree, it’s heaven after a life of unfulfilled work.

I’m only 55 so I think it’s a little too early to retire, but I would love to find another job making a scooch more money and actually caring about what I’m doing!!

I’m new to your blog site….(friend of Poolie’s) but the remark about working in insurance interested me. I was a claims adjuster for over 25 years….What do you do?

    • JJ says:

I talk to our members and providers who yell at me all day to find out why a claim wasn’t paid and then I see the error and send it to the claims adjuster!!!! Small world!!!!

  5. 67andgood says:

oooh, you’re the cushion between the client and the claims adjuster…I salute you! I used to answer my own clients’ calls and talk to the auto repair shops, contractors, and home office including the opposition’s insurance adjusters and attorneys and medical providers… I handled auto, homeowners, commercial, business and workers compensation. I loved my job but the stress and work load were horrendous…
I worked for American States Insurance (originated in Indiana ) and then Safeco Ins. which bought them out….and you?

    • JJ says:

I work for a company that insures the people who fix the things that go up and down in buildings. I don’t want to actually say the word so I can keep stalkers away!!!

What can you do to begin the process of finding a new job so you can hit the ground running in December?
